Day of Remembrance and Sorrow - the Day of the Beginning of the Great Patriotic War (1941)June 22, 1941 - one of the saddest dates in history - Day of memory and sorrow - the day of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. This day reminds us of all those killed in the battles that were thrown into Nazi captivity, who died in the rear from hunger and poverty. We mourn for all who, at the cost of their lives, have fulfilled their sacred duty, defending our Motherland in those severe years.
Early in the morning on June 22, 1941, without a declaration of war, fascist Germany attacked the Soviet Union, causing a severe blow to military and strategic objects and to many cities. Thus began the Great Patriotic War, which lasted for 1418 days and nights. In many countries, this day, the state flags are lowered and they recall the war and the dead in it.
