Independence Day of Ukraine
Initially, Ukraine's Independence Day was announced on July 16, 1991, as exactly one year ago, the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR, the main legislature at that time, adopted the Declaration on State Sovereignty
Later, on August 24, 1991, the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR adopted the Declaration of Independence of Ukraine. This moment is considered to be the date of the formation of Ukraine in its present form. Subsequently, this fateful document was confirmed by the citizens of Ukraine at the All-Ukrainian referendum on December 1, 1991. In connection with this, there was a need to change the date of the holiday Independence Day of Ukraine.
And on February 20, 1992, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in its resolution "On the Independence Day of Ukraine" noted: "Given the will of the Ukrainian people and its eternal aspiration for independence, confirming the historical importance of the adoption of the Act of Independence of Ukraine on August 24, 1991, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine decides To consider the day of August 24 as the Independence Day of Ukraine and annually celebrate it as a national national holiday of Ukraine ".
So, since 1992, the Independence Day of Ukraine has been celebrated annually on August 24.
Traditionally, in all Ukrainian cities, the day of proclamation of independence of our country is celebrated by various events: festive concerts, performances by artists and musicians, flash mobs, vernissages, competitions, fireworks, parades.
