8 and 9 May Ukraine marks a great holiday - the Day of Victory over fascism!

This is one of the most majestic and at the same time contradictory dates in the history of many countries including the Ukraine.

Victory in Europe Day - a holiday, during which the United States, United Kingdom, Ukraine and most of Western Europe are celebrating the Day of Victory in World War II. 7 May at 02:40 (CET), German General Alfred Jodl signed the Act of Germany's surrender. On this day, May 8, 1945 in many European cities were carried out large-scale celebration. In London, a huge number of people gathered in Trafalgar Square and near Buckingham Palace where King George VI, Queen Elizabeth and Winston Churchill went to the balcony and greeted the people.

In the United States President Harry Truman "dedicated" the victory the memory of his predecessor, who died less than a month before the victory of Franklin D. Roosevelt, who, according to him, was devoted to the cause of victory in the war. Flags were flown at half mast in the United States until May 12, when I finished the mourning for Roosevelt.
